Copa America : Argentina advances to semi final
Argentina has reached the semi-finals of the Copa America. In the quarter-final match, Argentina reached the semi-finals by defeating Ecuador 4-2 in the penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout, Lionel Messi missed the first penalty for Argentina. Messi’s ball hit the fence and went out. But after four other players scored for Argentina, the victory was assured. The penalty shot by two players from Ecuador was saved by the goalkeeper of Argentina.
After Argentina and Ecuador scored 1-1 in the scheduled 90-minute match, the game was decided by a penalty shootout. 30 minutes of extra time has not been set in the matches since the Copa America quarterfinals.
In the 35th minute of the game, Lisandro Martinez’s goal gave Argentina the lead, and in the injury time after 90 minutes of the game, Kevin Rodriguez equalized the game for Ecuador.
Now Argentina will play the winner between Venezuela and Canada in the semi-finals. This match will be played on July 9.
