Harry Brook announced as England’s T20I and ODI captain
England has named Harry Brook as the captain of its T20 International and ODI teams. Brook will now lead the team in place of Jos Buttler, who resigned from his position after England’s disappointing performance in the Champions Trophy.
England’s performance in the Champions Trophy was very poor and they failed to reach the semi-finals. England Cricket announced on Monday that Harry Brook has been appointed as the new captain. The 26-year-old batsman will now lead the team in T20Is and ODIs. He was recently banned from the IPL for two years after withdrawing his name from the competition.
He was associated with the Delhi Capitals for the ongoing season of the IPL. Brook has played 26 ODIs for England so far, scoring 816 runs at an average of 34. His highest score is 110. He has also scored 798 runs in 44 T20 Internationals.
He was part of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2022. After being given the captaincy of the white-ball format, Brook said that it was a real honour to captain England and that it was a dream come true. England are now scheduled to play Zimbabwe in May and the West Indies in June.
