Jestha 19, 23 years of Royal Massacre
Jestha 19, 2058 The Nepalese royal massacre occurred on 19th Jestha, 2058, at a house on the grounds of the Narayanhity Royal Palace, the residence of the Nepalese monarchy.
Nine members of the royal family were killed in a mass shooting during a party or monthly reunion dinner of the royal family in the house. The dead included King Birendra of Nepal and Queen Aishwarya.
After Birendra’s dynasty, the monarchy in Nepal could not last for long. After King Birendra, his younger brother Gyanendra Shah became the king. He became the last king in the history of Nepal.
7 years after the massacre, the establishment of a republic was announced in Nepal on 15th June 1965 along with the end of the monarchy.
The murder in the palace, which is under high security, is still a mystery. Even after 23 years of the murder, the truth has not been made public.
