Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retires from T-20 cricket

After winning the T-20 World Cup, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma and senior player Virat Kohli have announced their retirement from T20 internationals.

In the press conference after the match, Rohit Sharma said that the T20 World Cup final against South Africa was the last match of his T20 international career.

Rohit Sharma said, ‘This was my last match as well. I loved every moment. This is what I wanted, I wanted India to win the World Cup.’ However, Rohit Sharma will continue to play Test and ODI cricket for India.

Before Rohit, Virat Kohli also announced his retirement from the T20 international format.

Kohli said – ‘This was my last T20 World Cup. This is what we wanted to achieve, this is my last T20 game for India. We wanted to lift this cup. Now the time has come, young players will take T20 cricket forward.’

Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India has managed to win the T20 World Cup after 17 years. Earlier, India won the T20 World Cup in 2007 under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. India won the title by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the World Cup final.
