{"id":8377,"date":"2021-07-13T16:20:20","date_gmt":"2021-07-13T10:35:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bagmatitimes.com\/?p=8377"},"modified":"2021-07-13T16:20:23","modified_gmt":"2021-07-13T10:35:23","slug":"kp-oli-questions-sc-verdict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bagmatitimes.com\/bt\/kp-oli-questions-sc-verdict\/","title":{"rendered":"KP Oli questions SC verdict"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kathmandu<\/strong> : \u00a0In what sounds like a counter to the Supreme Court (SC)\u2019s verdict to reinstate House and appoint Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime minister,\u00a0 outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli\u00a0 said that Monday\u2019s verdict of the SC\u2019s constitutional bench will have a long-term and negative impact on the multiparty parliamentary system.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stating that they [he and his party] will implement the order of the court, he insisted that it is sure to demolish the party system and multi-party democracy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Referring to an SC verdict in 2052 BS, Oli said that the country had been drawn into instability and uncertainty due to the court\u2019s verdict back then. It is to be noted that the Supreme Court had overturned the then Prime Minister Man Mohan Adhikari\u2019s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR) in 2052 BS.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, SC\u2019s \u2018misinterpretation\u2019 of Article 76 (5) is sure to lead the country toward a partyless system.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is sure to ignite malpractices and deteriorate discipline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe court has crossed its jurisdiction and decided over political matters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the occasion, he also blamed the court for \u2018excessive judicial activism\u2019.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt may lead to the deterioration of the reliability of the court.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have not been ousted because of the people&#8217;s mandate but because of the court&#8217;s mandamus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also claimed that a series of conspiracies were hatched to oust him from the government.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a different note, he claimed that he delivered \u2018outstanding and overall development\u2019 during his tenure. Talking about the country\u2019s fight against COVID-19, Oli said that the country is in the final stage of controlling the coronavirus. <br><br>\u201cWe will be able to vaccinate a majority of the population against the coronavirus by 2021,\u201d he said, adding that the new government will have an advantage of taking credit for vaccinating the people.
