ICC T-20 CWC : Afghanistan into Super 8, New Zealand eliminated
New Zealand has been eliminated from the ongoing T20 World Cup. New Zealand was eliminated from the World Cup after Afghanistan defeated PNG in Group C on Friday morning.
From Group C, Afghanistan and West Indies have reached the Super Eight. Afghanistan defeated PNG in this match by 7 wickets.
Chasing the target of 96 runs given by PNG, Afghanistan achieved the target by losing 3 wickets in 15.1 overs. Earlier, PNG batted first and scored 95 runs in 19.5 overs.
After this victory, Afghanistan won three consecutive matches and climbed to the top position with 6 points and reached the Super Eight. Similarly, West Indies are also in the second position with 6 points after winning three matches.
Uganda and PNG have also left this group. New Zealand had lost both the matches played so far. And this is the first time that New Zealand has been eliminated in the first round of T20 World Cup.
Now Afghanistan will face West Indies while New Zealand will play against Uganda and PNG.
