Kerala Story Becomes First Female-Led Film To Hit Rs 200 Crore

The Kerala Story has raised Rs 200 crore at the India box office, the makers accounced on Monday.In a press note, production house Sunshine Pictures said The Kerala Story has touched Rs 200 crore net at the Indian box office and continues to grow across the country.

The Kerala Story, directed by Vipul Shah, presents how women from Kerala were forced to convert and recruited by the terror organisation Islamic State (IS).

The film, which has polarized political debate in the country, was banned by the West Bengal government on May 8 due to community sensitivities.

Tamil Nadu theaters have chosen to halt screenings from May 7, citing the law-and-order situation and a low crowd turnout.

While The Kerala Story has already turned its lead actress Adah Sharma into the highest grossing female star beating Alia Bhatt and Kangana Ranaut, it has now also achieved another unique box office record.

Adah Sharma starrer has now become the first female-led Hindi film to hit a double century at the domestic box office.The film is also doing good business in Nepal.
