13 killed in fire at nightclub in Spain
A fire broke out at a nightclub in the southeastern Spanish city of Murcia on Sunday, killing 13 people and injuring many others, authorities said.
Spain’s official news agency EFE reported that the fire broke out at the popular Teater nightclub around 6 a.m. and spread quickly.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.A video shared by Murcia’s fire service showed firefighters trying to put out the fire inside the nightclub.
Police and emergency services were trying to secure the interior of the club to prevent possible damage. Also, they were trying to locate and identify the bodies that died in the fire. Officials said the death toll could rise. After the accident in the nightclub, the city council announced three days of mourning and announced that the flags will be flown at half-mast in the government buildings of the Murcia region for three days.
