Sheikh Hasina appointed as Prime Minister of Bangladesh

Bangladesh Awami League Party leader Sheikh Hasina has been appointed as the new Prime Minister on Wednesday.

The President of Bangladesh Mohammad Shahabuddin has appointed Sheikh Hasina, the leader of the ruling Awami League, as the new Prime Minister of the country.

This is his fourth term in a row. As the Awami League has gained the confidence of the majority members of the Parliament, the President has also invited them to form a new government, the Cabinet Division has issued a notice in the gazette.

After the victory of Prime Minister Hasina’s party in the general election held on Sunday, he along with other MPs of the party took the oath of office on Wednesday.

According to the information published in the Gazette published by the Election Commission on Tuesday afternoon, Hasina’s Awami League has won 222 seats out of 298 seats in the Parliament, while the coalition led by him has won 225 seats.
