National women’s cricketer Manisha Upadhyaya, who has been making significant contributions to Nepali women’s cricket through her outstanding performances, has been honoured by the Late Rama Devi Memorial Cricket Cup with cricket equipment worth NPR 60,000.

Tournament Director Raj Chhetri has been actively involved in identifying and encouraging talent at the grassroots level and providing necessary support to players for the development of Nepali cricket. He believes that sports should not be limited to competitions alone and that a culture of recognising players’ struggles and contributions should also be developed. Through the Late Rama Devi Memorial Cricket Cup, he has also been working to strengthen the connection between cricket and its players.
The success of the honouring programme was made possible through the special initiative and significant contribution of international cricket umpire and Tournament Technical Director Rabindra Gupta. Gupta has been continuously supporting and coordinating the concept, management, and organisation of the tournament.
Gupta, who has gained international experience as a cricket umpire, said that encouraging players is an investment in the future of Nepali cricket.
“If we can recognise the hard work and struggles of players on the field, it gives them the energy to perform even better. Honouring talented players like Manisha is not only a recognition of her contribution but also a way to inspire the next generation of players to dream and work hard to achieve those dreams. We all need to contribute from our respective positions to take Nepali cricket forward,” Gupta said.
He also highlighted that cricket tournaments organised at the local level provide opportunities for emerging talents. He said that cooperation among players, organisers, coaches, umpires and cricket enthusiasts can further strengthen Nepali cricket.
Meanwhile, Manisha Upadhyaya has become a source of inspiration for the new generation of players through her hard work, discipline and consistent performances in Nepali women’s cricket. Her contribution to the national team has further highlighted the potential and capabilities of women’s cricket in Nepal. The organisers expressed confidence that the honour would encourage her to deliver even better performances in the future.
