PM Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024 begins from today

The seventh edition of the country’s biggest domestic cricket tournament, the Prime Minister’s Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament, is starting today in Kathmandu and Bhairahawa. The Prime Minister’s Cup cricket has been organized every year since 2017 with the financial support of the National Sports Council and the organization of the Nepal Cricket Association CAN.

7 provinces and 3 divisional teams will participate in this tournament, which will be played for the first time according to the round robin system, and for the first time, the match will be held outside Kathmandu in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi.

There will be a total of 46 matches including the final in this tournament which will last for 22 days at TU Cricket Ground located in Kirtipur, Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground located in Kathmandu Mulpani and Siddarth Cricket Stadium in Bhairahwa located in Rupandehi.

The winning team of the competition is the Armed Police Force APF team. The most successful team of the Prime Minister’s Cup till the end of the sixth edition is APF, it has won the title 3 times so far, Nepal Police and Tribhuvan Army have won the title once, while the final of the first edition completed in 2017 was affected by rain. was awarded the joint title.

Nepali National Cricket Team Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel is going to leave his old team Tribhuvan Army Club and play for another divisional team APF. Rohit, who has represented the Army in the last 6 editions, decided not to renew his contract with the Army and joined APF from this year.

Rohit Tribhuvan, who is the captain of the national team, was only a player in the army, the captaincy of the army is being done by the wicket-keeper batter of the national team, Binod Bhandari. Rohit will be the new captain of APF, replacing APF captain Pradeep Airee.
