IPL 2023 Final Preview: CSK or GT who will reign supreme?

IPL 2023 began in Ahmedabad with Gujarat Titans taking on Chennai Super Kings, and it is going to end in the same fashion, but with a much larger stake.

Can Mahendra Singh Dhoni win his fifth trophy while serving as captain and eventually tie Rohit Sharma’s record, or will Hardik Pandya become the third captain to win the trophy in back-to-back seasons? It’s a more difficult topic to answer because both clubs’ players are now in outstanding form.

In Qualifier 2, Gujarat Titans’s opener Shubman Gill created chaos, scoring 129 runs off only 60 deliveries against Mumbai Indians, giving him his third century in his past four matches. With the bowling, Mohammed Shami picked up two wickets, while Mohit Sharma was in brilliant form once again, bringing up his maiden five-for this season.

When it comes to Chennai, Devon Conway, and Ruturaj Gaikwad will cause an enormous threat to Gujarat. They eventually ruined GT’s party in Qualifier 1, and now, on a batting-friendly track, the duo may be quite dangerous in the middle. Furthermore, MS Dhoni possesses the much-needed experience that Hardik appears to be missing, which can make a major impact in the showdown.

The Narendra Modi Stadium’s surface will assist batters’ success. Bowling first is a good idea, and anything over 180 runs is a solid total on this surface. Dew may play a role in the match’s second innings. Both of the teams are expected to march down the field without any changes in their playing eleven.

The average first-innings score on this wicket is 180 runs. The team batting second has great records here. They have maintained a winning percentage of 60 on this ground. It should also be noted that the ball starts to swing in a very abnormal manner in the second half of the match giving a minor advantage to the swingers like Shami and Chahar.

Gujrat and Chennai have faced each other four times in the IPL, where Gujrat has managed to beat the 4-times-champion three times.

Players to watch: Ruturaj Gaikwad has scored a half-century every time while playing against the GT. Similarly, orange cap holder, Shubman Gill is also in a red-hot form scoring a total of 851 runs in this edition. The bowlers of Gujrat are dominating in the Purple cap list, as Shami, Rashid, and Mohit Sharma holds the top three position. Meanwhile, Matheesha Pathirana will look to handle things in the death overs.

Bagmati Times Prediction: Hardik Pandya successfully defended the title trashing the dream of CSK to equal MI’s record.
