NPL: Sudurpashchim Royals defeated Pokhara Avengers
Sudurpashchim Royals have defeated Pokhara Avengers in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). In the match held on Wednesday, Sudurpashchim secured a 6-wicket victory over Pokhara.
Chasing the 146-run target set by Pokhara, Sudurpashchim Royals completed the chase in 16.5 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Captain Dipendra Singh Airee led from the front with an unbeaten 51 runs, while Ishan Pandey scored 37 runs. Brandon McMullen contributed 22 runs and Saif Zaib added 15 runs. For Pokhara, bowlers Shakib Al Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, and Dhananjaya Lakshan took one wicket each.
Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, Pokhara posted 145 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Arjun Gharti played a splendid knock, remaining unbeaten on 40 off 25 balls, supported by Mahedi Hasan (32), Kushal Bhurtel (21), and Shakib Al Hasan (14). For Sudurpashchim, bowler Anil Kharel claimed 3 wickets, while Hemant Dhami, Scott Kuggeleijn, and Dipendra Singh Airee picked up one wicket apiece.
This marks the first victory for Sudurpashchim Royals in their second match. Having lost to Lumbini Lions in the opening fixture, Sudurpashchim have staged a comeback, whereas Pokhara have begun their campaign with a defeat.
