IPL 2024 : Virat Kohli’s half century, RCB beats Punjab Kings

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings by 4 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Monday night at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

Chasing the target of 177 runs given by Punjab Kings, Bengaluru completed the target in 19.2 overs.

In Bengaluru’s win, Virat Kohli scored 77 runs while Rajat Patidar was dismissed for 18 runs and Anuj Rawat for 11 runs, Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten for 28 runs and Mahipal Lomror for 17 runs. Glenn Maxwell, captain Faf Du Plessis and Cameron Green scored 3 runs each.

Punjab’s Harpreet Brar and Kagiso Rabada took 2 wickets each. Harshal Patel and Sam Curran had 1 wicket each.

Earlier, Punjab batted first and scored 176 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan scored the highest 45 runs.

Jitesh Sharma scroed 27, Prabhasimran Singh scored 25, Sam Curran scored 23, Liam Livingstone scored 17 and Jonny Bairstow scored 8 runs.

Shashank Singh remained unbeaten on 21 and Harpreet Brar on 2 runs. Bengaluru’s Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj took 2 wickets each. Alzzari Joseph and Yash Dayal had 1 wicket each.

This is Royal Challengers Bangalore’s first win in their second game. Similarly, Punjab suffered its first defeat in the second match.
