UCL Final Preview: Man City vs Inter Milan Set to Determine European Glory

The English champions will be looking for their first throne, while the Italians have won it three times before.

City, under coach Pep Guardiola, is widely regarded as the best team in the world and is on the verge of completing a historic treble, having already won the Premier League and the FA Cup.

Here’s the possible lineup for both clubs:

Man City: Ederson; Walker, Rúben Dias, Aké; Stones, Rodri; Bernardo Silva, De Bruyne, Gündoğan, Grealish; Haaland

Inter: Onana; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro Martínez, Džeko

Pep is infamous for making a suprise change especially in final, so you can expect that too.

City ended the season in unstoppable form, storming to the Premier League title with 12 straight wins, before seeing off United at Wembley last week. Inter, meanwhile, finished third in Serie A and, although they ended their season with 11 wins from 12 games in all competitions – including a Coppa Italia final win over Fiorentina – they will have their work cut out to beat City here. They are only the fourth side ever to reach the Champions League final having lost their first game of the season in the competition.

This game exhibits a clash of ideas. This season, City has retrieved the ball and started open-play sequences an average of 47.2 meters from their own goal, the highest up the field of any team.

Meanwhile, Inter are the team that has advanced out of the group stage the closest to their own goal (38.4 metres). Guardiola’s team will most certainly control possession, while Inter will sit back and seek to catch their opponents off guard. Only Milan (13) has had more counter-attack shots in the Champions League this season than Inter (12).

Everything – in fact – points to a Manchester City victory here. They are the best team in the earth, and they have demonstrated that no team can compete with the football they play when they are on fire. Inter’s only hope is that their opponents aren’t at their best and make some important decisions when the ball is in hazardous areas of the field. This could be a procession if they play anything like they can. Inter need some kind of miracle just like Chelsea got in the 2021.

Bagmati Times Prediction: Man City beat Inter 2-0 to lift their first Champions League.
