Nepal fails to qualify for Asia cup, UAE beats Nepal

After losing to UAE in the semi-final of the ACC Premier Cup, Nepal failed to qualify for the T20 Asia Cup in 2025. After this victory UAE reached to the final of ACC Premier Cup 2024.

UAE defeated Nepal by 6 wickets in the semi-final. Chasing the target of 120 runs given by Nepal, UAE achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 17.2 overs. Earlier, Nepal scored 119 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.

UAE’s Alishan Sharafu remained unbeaten and scored the highest 55 runs. He played 41 balls and hit 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Vishnu Sukumaran 28, Syed Haider 14 and Mohammad Wasim were out for 11 runs while Ayan Afzal Khan remained unbeaten at 2 runs.

Gulshan Kumar Jha took the most 2 wickets, Sompal Kami and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi got 1/1 wicket each for Nepal.

After losing the toss, Nepal started batting first and scored 119 runs losing 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

Sandeep Jora scored the highest 50 runs off 40 balls for Nepal. Gulshan Kumar Jha scored 20 and Karan KC scored 17 runs. Kushal Bhurtel went out for a duck, Asif Sheikh 8, captain Rohit Kumar Paudel 5, Kushal Malla 3, Dipendra Singh Airee 5, Sompal Kami scored 2 runs, Abhinash Bohora 1 and Lalit Narayan Rajvanshi remained unbeaten with 2 runs.

Junaid Siddiqui, Ali Nasir and Basil Hameed took 2 wickets each.Omid Shafi Rahman, Ayaan Afzal Khan and Mohammad Farooq took 1 wicket each for UAE.

Nepal will now play for the third place. Nepal will play against the defeated country in the second semi-final today for the third place on Saturday. The countries that finish first, second and third in this Premier Cup will be eligible to play in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Now the second semi-final of the Premier Cup will be held today between the hosts Oman and Hong Kong.
