COPA America : Canada advances to the semi final for the first time
Canada entered the semi-finals of the Copa America for the first time by defeating Venezuela 4-2 in the penalty shoot out.
After both teams tied 1-1 at the scheduled time, the decision of the match was taken by penalty shootout.
Jonathan David, Moise Bombito, Alphonso Davies and Ismael Kone scored for Canada in the penalty shootout. Liam Millar and Stephen Eustaquio’s shots could not be converted into goals.
Jose Salomon Rondon, Thomas Rincon, Jhonder Cadiz scored for Venezuela. Yangel Herrera, Jefferson Savarino and Wilker Angel missed out.
Before that, Jakub Shaffelberg scored for Canada and Jose Salomon Rondon scored for Venezuela.
Canada will face Argentina in the semi-finals on July 10, 2024 at MetLife Stadium.
Argentina defeated Ecuador 4-2 in the penalty shootout and had entered to the semi final.
