ICC CWC 2023 : Srilanka’s humiliating defeat against India, India into semi
India secured their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing Cricket World Cup with a comprehensive victory over Sri Lanka. India reached the semi-finals of the World Cup by defeating Sri Lanka by a wide margin of 302 runs in the match concluded on Thursday.
Chasing the target of 358 runs given by India, Sri Lanka scored only 55 runs in 19.4 overs.
Indian bowler Mohammad Shami took a record 5 wickets while destroying Sri Lanka’s batting. Shami took 5 wickets with 18 runs in 5 overs. Similarly, Mohammad Siraj took 3 wickets while Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.
India, who lost the toss and batted first, scored 357 runs losing 8 wickets in 50 overs.
This is India’s seventh consecutive win in this World Cup. With 14 points in 7 matches, India became the first team to reach the semi-finals.
With this defeat, Sri Lanka is out of the semi-final race. This is Sri Lanka’s fifth defeat. Sri Lanka has only 2 wins in 7 matches and is in seventh place with 4 points.
