Sandeep Lamichhane sentenced for 8 years of prison
Kathmandu district court has sentenced 8 years of jail time for cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane after being proven guilty for rape.
The bench of Judge Shishirraj Dhakal on Wednesday ordered Sandeep to be imprisoned for eight years and to pay compensation of 5 lakhs to the victim.
As per the court, Lamichhane took advantage of the poor financial situation of the victim and raped her.
The court also ruled that the victim girl Gaushala 26 had reached 18 years of age. However, even though the victim was an adult, the court found Lamichhane guilty, stating that rape has been proved.
