Lalitpur City FC to appeal against the referee’s wrong decision
Lalitpur City FC is set to appeal against the referee’s wrong decision in the Nepal Super League (NSL). Lalitpur, which received two red cards due to a referee’s wrong decision in the first qualifier match, will appeal against the decision.
“We worked hard as a team to raise the level of the competition. But the referees who played NSS were not up to the standard,” said Alok Joshi, Managing Director of Lalitpur City.
“Two of our important players have received red cards due to the referee’s wrong decision. We will strongly appeal against this wrong decision,” Joshi said. Lalitpur, who were reduced to ten players from the start of the match due to a referee’s wrong decision, defeated Dhangadhi to reach the final of the tournament.
However, the team suffered a major setback even before the final match due to two red cards in the first qualifier. Lalitpur’s Mani Kumar Lama was shown a red card for a bad tackle by Dhangadhi’s Mohammad Al-Jawni at the start of the match.
Mani was sent off the field in the 16th minute by chief referee Umesh Bidari after a hard tackle on the chest vein at the end of the match. Referee Bidari, who could not control the game, showed a red card to Lalitpur’s Pape Diket. Bidari, who left the field after the match, also gave a yellow card to Lalitpur’s captain, Ananta Tamang.
Lalitpur has protested the wrong decision made by the referee. It has been said that it will appeal the decision, raising serious questions about the referee’s standards. FC Chitwani had earlier warned the organizers, questioning the referee’s standards and intentions.
Chitwan had even warned that the investment made by the franchise team was at risk due to the referee’s wrong decision, and that it could be pulled out of the competition.
The Nepal Super League, which has been beset by controversy and scandal, has been plagued by criticism and dissatisfaction over refereeing decisions since its first season. Although the organizers have promised to bring in foreign referees to raise the standard of the league, that has not happened on the field.
