ICC T-20 CWC : India beats Ireland
India has made a winning start in the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2024. In the match completed on Wednesday night, India defeated Ireland by 2 wickets.
Chasing the target of 97 runs given by Ireland in this match under Group A, India achieved the target by losing 2 wickets in 12.2 overs.
Captain Rohit Sharma scored 52 runs for India, Rishav Pant scored 36 runs and Suryakumar Yadav scored 2 runs. Rohit Sharma retired hurt after scoring 52 runs.
Before losing the toss, Ireland batted first and scored 96 runs in 16 overs. For Ireland, Gareth Delaney scored 26 runs while Josh Little scored 14 runs, Curtis Kampfer scored 12 runs and Lorcan Tector scored 10 runs.
Similarly, Indian bowler Hardik Pandey took 3 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh tied 2-2, while Mohammad Siraj and Aksar Patel took one wicket each.
With this win, India has gained 2 important points. Now Ireland is playing the second match on June 7 against Canada. Similarly, India is scheduled to play against Pakistan on June 9.
