UEFA Euro 2024 : Portugal into quarter finals

Portugal has reached the quarter-finals of the ongoing European Cup. Portugal reached the quarter-finals of the competition by defeating Slovenia in a penalty shootout in the match completed last night.

After the scheduled 90-minute match was scoreless, the match was decided by a penalty shoot-out after the match was scoreless in the 30-minute extra time.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed the penalty awarded by Portugal in the 105th minute of extra time. Ronaldo’s penalty was saved by the goalkeeper of Slovenia. The scene of Ronaldo crying on the field after missing the penalty was emotional. Ronaldo, who is nearing the end of his career, was seen being remembered by other players.

After 30 minutes of extra time there was no goal, the game was decided by a penalty shootout. Goalkeeper Diogo Costa became the hero of Portugal’s victory in the penalty shootout. He saved all three penalties of Slovenia and won against Portugal.

Now Portugal will face France in the quarterfinals. The quarter-final match between Portugal and France will be held on July 5.

Similarly, Slovenia’s Eurocup journey has ended with the defeat.
