Madhesh United welcomes Kirsten Wessels for EWVL 2

Dutch midfielder Kirsten Wessels signs with Madhesh United. Madhesh United has signed talented outside hitter Kirsten Wessels from the Netherlands for the second edition of the Vatsalaya Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL).

Madhesh United have announced Wessels as their third foreign player. Earlier, Madhesh United had announced the names of the Netherlands’ Romy Veenstra and Danic Aardema.

The 186 cm Ugly Weasels have a spike reach of 300 cm and a block reach of 293 cm. Wessels, 26, is becoming increasingly popular around the world for her versatility, powerful attack, and steady defense.

Wessels began her volleyball career with her home club LSV Lapersum. She then traveled to the prestigious training center Talent Team Papendal via RTC Groningen.

From there, her playing skills attracted national attention, and a few years later, she was signed by Sliederecht Sport, one of the most successful clubs in the Netherlands. While at Sliedhrecht Sport, she won the national title and even showed her strong performance in European competitions. She is currently performing well, playing for the Sudosa-Desto club.

Wessels has represented the Netherlands at the European and World Championships for the U-19 and U-20 national teams. We are very happy to have him join the Madhesh United team. Wessels said she is very excited to be a part of the Everest Women’s Volleyball League and especially to join Madhesh United. She says that her participation in Nepal will give a new dimension to her career and that this tournament will provide an opportunity to raise the standard of Nepali women’s volleyball and inspire young players.

The three foreign players of Madhesh United are based in the Netherlands. This is seen as an important initiative for sports exchange between the Netherlands and Nepal. Madhesh United’s marquee player is Niruta Thagunna, while model and actress Niti Shah is the team’s brand ambassador.

The second edition of the Vatsalya Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWWL), organized by Infinity Dreams, will be held from Bhadra 20 to 28 (September 5-13).
