Government released 5 crore to the Nepali team for preparation of T-20 World Cup
5 Crore has been released by the Ministry of Finance for the preparation of the Nepali team, which has secured a place in the ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup.
Nepal, which played the T20 World Cup for the first time in 2014, is going to play the T20 World Cup after 10 years. In the T20 World Cup, Nepal is in Group ‘D’. In the group, Nepal will compete with Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands.
Member-Secretary of National Sports Council (Rakhep) Tanklal Ghising informed that the preparation expenses have been cleared and thanked the Government of Nepal, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The Nepali team is playing a big tournament like the Cricket World Cup. For the preparation of the World Cup, the National Sports Council had recommended the release of funds to the Ministry of Finance through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the government of Nepal, the honorable Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who understand the importance of sports and help in disbursing funds. It was promised that there would be no reduction in the expenses incurred for the preparation of the team.
Honorable Prime Minister, that commitment has been fulfilled. Now, I am confident that the players will prepare with high morale and perform well in the World Cup and enhance Nepal’s reputation. Member-Secretary Ghising asked the Nepal Cricket Association to proceed seriously for full preparation and congratulated the Nepalese team.
After defeating UAE by 8 wickets in the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup Asia Regional Qualifier held in Nepal from October 30 to November 5, Nepal qualified for the ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup to be held in America and the West Indies from June 1.
