ICC T-20 WC : Dissapointing start of Nepal, Nepal lost to Netherlands

Nepal had a disappointing start in the ICC T-20 world cup 2024. Nepal lost to Netherlands by 6 wickets.

Chasing the target of 107 runs given by Nepal, the Netherlands achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 18.4 overs. Max O’Dowd scored an unbeaten 54 runs off 48 balls in the Netherlands win. Vikramjit Singh scored 22 runs, Sybrand Engelbrecht 14 runs, Bas de Leede 11, Captain Scott Edwards got out in 5 runs and Opener Michael Levitt could get a single run only.

Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee and Abinash Bohara took one wicket each.

Earlier, after losing the toss, Nepal batted first and scored 106 runs in 19.2 overs.

For Nepal, captain Rohit Paudel scored 35 runs off 37 balls while Gulshan Jha scored 14 runs and Karan KC scored 17 runs. Kushal Bhurtel got 7, Aasif Sheikh got 4, Anil Shah got 11, Kushal Mall got 9, Dipendra Singh Airee got 1 and Sompal Kami got out for zero.

Logan Van Beek and Tim Pringle took 3 wickets each, while Bas de Leede and Paul Van Meekeren took 2 wickets each fot the Netherlands

After this victory, the Netherlands has gained an important 2 points in Group D. Now Nepal will play their next match against Sri Lanka on June 12 and Netherlands will play against South Africa on June 8.
