IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians seals the first win, MI beats DC

Mumbai Indians registered their first win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Mumbai defeated Delhi by 29 runs and sealed their first victory.

Chasing the target of 234 runs given by Mumbai, Delhi managed to score only 205 runs, losing 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Tristan Stubbs top-scored with an unbeaten 71 runs with fours and 7 sixes in 25 balls for Delhi. Prithvi Shaw 66, Abhishek Porel 41 and David Warner were dismissed for 10 runs others didn’t perform well.

Gerald Coetzee of Mumbai took the highest 4 wickets. Jaspreet Brumrah took 2 wickets while Romario Shepherd took 1 wicket.

After winning the toss at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai scored 234 runs losing 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

Mumbai opener Rohit Sharma scored the highest 49 runs. Ishan Kishan 42 and skipper Hardik Pandya were dismissed for 39 runs while Tim David 45 and Romario Shepherd remained unbeaten on 39 runs.

Anrich Nortje and Axar Patel took 2 wickets each. Khalil Ahmed got 1 wicket for Delhi Capitals.

With the win, Mumbai, who have lost 4 matches, have added 2 points. Mumbai is ranked eighth. Having played 5 matches, Delhi is at the bottom of the table with the same number of points.
