NPL-2 opening day under floodlights, Kathmandu won against Janakpur
Kathmandu Gorkhas have made a winning start to the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Kathmandu Gorkhaz defeated Janakpur Bolts by 5 wickets in the opening match.
Chasing a target of 131 runs set by Janakpur, Kathmandu achieved the target in 18 overs, losing 5 wickets. Ben Charlesworth top-scored with 46 runs while Akash Tripathi scored 39 runs in Kathmandu’s win. Similarly, Milind Kumar scored 19 and John Simpson scored 13.
Janakpur bowlers Kishore Mahato, Anil Shah, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Jan Nicole Loftie took one wicket each. Earlier, Janakpur Bolts, who had batted first after losing the toss, scored 130 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
Aasif Sheikh top-scored for Janakpur with 54 runs while Mayan Yadav scored an unbeaten 34 runs. Similarly, Kathmandu Gorkhas bowler Milind Kumar took 3 wickets while Santosh Yadav took one wicket.
Now, there will be two matches on the second day of the NPL. The first match on Tuesday will be between Chitwan Rhinos and Karnali Yaks, and the second match will be between Biratnagar Kings and Pokhara Avengers.
