NPL : Chitwan’s winning start, Chitwan beat Kathmandu

Chitwan Rhinos defeated Kathmandu Gurkhas in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Five wickets defeated Kathmandu in Monday’s first match at TU ground.

Chasing the target of 112 runs given by Kathmandu, Chitwan completed the target by scoring 114 runs in 17.1 overs.

Santosh Karki scored the most 28 runs for Chitwan’s Lati batting. Luke Benkenstein scored 22 runs off 17 balls with two fours and a six. Captain Kushal Malla and Rabi Bopara scored 11 runs each.

Opener Hasan Ishaqil scored 12 runs while Sharad Bheshwakar remained unbeaten on 11 runs.

On the other hand, on the bowling side, Sahab Alam took three wickets and Dan Douthwaite and Gerard Erasmus took one wicket each for Kathmandu.

Before that, Kathmandu lost the toss and scored 111 runs after losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Sumit Maharjan scored the most 29 runs for Kathmandu. He hit a boundary off 41 balls. Michael Levitt was dismissed for 25 runs while Dan Douthwaite remained unbeaten on 19 runs. Shankar Rana scored 16 runs. Captain Karan KC, Bhim Sarki, and Sahav Salam were dismissed for one run.

Kathmandu, which had a bad start, lost Stefan Scinazi for two runs as the first wicket. He was dismissed by Sohail Tanveer on the first ball of the second over. For Chitwana, Sohail Tanveer took five wickets for 21 runs in four overs. Captain Kushal Malla, Amar Singh Rautela, Luke Benkenstein, and Rijan Dhakal took one wicket each.
