Nepal lost against Ireland, secures 8th place in ICC CWC qualifier

Ireland defeated Nepal by 2 wickets in the match for the seventh place play off match of ICC World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe.

Ireland completed the target of 269 runs given by Nepal by losing 8 wickets in 49 overs.

Curtis Campher and Harry Tector scored half-centuries in Ireland’s victory. Campher scored 62 runs off 59 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six. Tector scored 60 runs in 76 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Karan KC took 4 wickets and Kishore Mahato took 2 wickets for Nepal. Gulsan Jha and Sandeep Lamichhane took 1-1 wicket each.

After losing the toss and batting first, Nepal scored 268 runs after losing 9 wickets in the full 50 overs.

For Nepal, Gulsan Jha played an unbeaten half-century of 57 runs with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes in 42 balls. Opener Arjun Saud scored 48 runs off 84 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes. Kushal Malla scored 44 runs off 38 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Sandeep scored 32 runs in 30 balls with the help of 3 fours and 1 six. Captain Rohit Paudel scored 29 runs off 35 balls and Bhim Sarki scored 20 runs while Dipendra Singh Airee gone for a duck.

Eighth wicket Sandeep Lamichhane and Gulshan Jha shared a record partnership of 80 runs. This is the biggest partnership for number eight in ODIs for Nepal.

Earlier, Dipendra Airee and Sandeep shared 79 runs for the eighth wicket against UAE on Sunday.

With the win, Ireland secured the seventh place in the World Cup qualifiers. Nepal has secured the eighth place in the competition.
