Consecutive defeat for Nepal, Nepal lost againts Oman
Despite the high performance of young all-rounder Gulsan Jha, Nepal lost to Oman in the ICC World Cup League-2 triangular series. Nepal lost to Oman by 1 wicket in the match completed on Thursday morning in King City, Canada.
Oman completed the target of 221 runs given by Nepal by losing 9 wickets in 49.5 overs. Opener Jatinder Singh scored 41 runs off 49 balls for Oman.
Oman’s other opener Kashyap Prajapati added 36 runs off 52 balls. Captain Akib Ilyas was lost by Oman as the third wicket. Ilyas got out after scoring 29 runs in 33 balls. Prateek Athavale and Soyab Khan scored 26 each and Khalid Kail added 17 runs.
For Nepal, Gulsan Jha took 5 wickets for 47 runs in 10 overs. Karan KC took 2 wickets and Aarif Sheikh and Sandeep Lamichhane took 1 wicket each.
Before that, Nepal, who lost the toss and were invited to bat first, scored 220 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs with the half-centuries of Rohit Paudel and Gulsan Jha.
For Nepal, captain Rohit scored 60 runs in 72 balls with the help of 2 fours and 4 sixes. Jha scored 53 runs in 35 balls with the help of 3 fours and 5 sixes.
For Nepal, who lost 3 wickets while making 31, captain Rohit and Arif Sheikh shared an important partnership of 83 runs for the fourth wicket. Arif got out after scoring 35 runs off 88 balls.
Sompal Kami was dismissed for 20 off 8 balls while Sandeep Lamichhane remained not out for 11 runs. For Oman, Fayez Butt, Aqib Ilyas and Kalimullah took 2 wickets each and Soyab Khan and Sakil Ahmed took 1 wicket each.
With the win, Oman is in sixth place with 5 points from 5 games. Defeated Nepal is in seventh place with 2 points in 6 games. Nepal and Oman as well as Canada are also participating in the ongoing triangular series.
Earlier, in the first match held last Tuesday, Nepal’s home team was defeated by Canada. Nepal was defeated by Canada by a wide margin of 103 runs.
