Nepal placed with India & Pakistan in SAFF championship 2023
The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) announced the group division of the championship on Wednesday. Nepal has been placed in Group ‘A’ of the 14th edition of Men’s SAFF Football Championship to be held in India.
Along with Nepal India, Kuwait and Pakistan are in the group .Group B includes Lebanon, Maldives, Bhutan and Bangladesh. SAFF Championship will be held from June21 to July 4 in Bangalore, India.
Sri Lanka will not play this edition due to FIFA ban. However, Kuwait and Lebanon will play as invited teams.
Nepal became the runner-up in the 13th SAFF Championship organized in Maldives. Nepal lost 3-0 to India in the title clash.
So far, India has won this title the most 8 times, while Maldives has won 2 times and Bangladesh has won this title once.
Nepal, placed in Group A, will face Kuwait in the first match. Nepal is scheduled to play against Kuwait on June 21 at 3:45 pm Nepali time.
Similarly, Nepal will play its second match against the host India on June 24 at 7:45 PM. Nepal will play their third match on June 27 against Pakistan at 3:45 PM.
