NPL : Chitwan Rhinos play off hope alives, Chitwan beats Janakpur
Chitwan Rhinos have defeated Janakpur bolts by 32 runs. Chasing the huge target of 181 runs given by Chitwan at the TU Cricket Ground, Janakpur lost all wickets in 18 overs and managed to score only 148 runs.
After defeating Janakpur by 32 runs, Chitwan’s chances of playoffs remain, while Biratnagar Kings and Pokhara Avengers are out of the competition. Chitwan has scored eight points from seven games. Defeated Janakpur has 10 points from the same game.
All-rounder Jimmy Neesham played a decent innings for Janakpur, but it was not enough for the team’s victory. He scored an 18-ball half-century and was dismissed for 65 runs. He hit five fours and six sixes off 24 balls.
Similarly, opener Aasif Sheikh scored 23 runs while captain Anil Kumar Sah scored eight runs. Shubhas Kanskar scored 15 runs.
On the other hand, captain Kushal Malla, Sohail Tanvir and Rijan Dhakal took two wickets in Chitwan’s victory while Amar Rautela took one wicket.
Before that, Chitwan, who won the toss and batted first, scored 180 runs after losing five wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.
Captain Malla played a brilliant innings for him. Malla faced 41 balls and scored 72 runs. He hit three fours and seven sixes. He was caught out by Janakpur captain Anil Kumar Shah on the ball of Jimmy Nisam.
Similarly, Rabi Bopara played an innings of 44 runs. He and Kushal shared a century partnership of 113 runs for the fourth wicket. Opener Hassan Eisakhil scored 28 runs while Santosh Karki scored 14 runs.
On the other hand, Lalit Rajbanshi took two wickets for bowling Janakpur. Harsh Thaker and Jimmy Neesham took one wicket each.
