FIFA WC: Messi’s record in the World Cup

Lionel Messi has set a new record by scoring a hat-trick in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Messi equalled Germany’s Miroslav Klose’s record for most goals in a World Cup with a hat-trick against Algeria.

Both have scored 16 goals each in the World Cup. Messi scored in the 17th, 60th, and 76th minutes of the match. This is Messi’s first hat-trick in a World Cup.

Brazil’s Ronaldo has scored 15 goals in the World Cup, while France’s Kylian Mbappe and Germany’s Gerd Müller have scored 14 goals each. Similarly, Messi has set the record of becoming the first player to play in a sixth World Cup.
