Happy Birthday Gyanendra Malla
Nepali national cricket team captain Gyanendra Malla is celebrating his 31st birthday today. Malla, who made his national team debut against Namibia in 2006, has played 13 ODIs and 32 T20I matches for Nepal during this period.

He made his debut in one-day international cricket in 2018 BS. He also made his T20 international debut in the 2014 T20 World Cup against Hong Kong. He scored 107 runs in the first match of his T20 international career in December 2019 against Bhutan in the South Asian Games. This is the highest individual total made by a Nepali batsman in T20 international cricket.
Paras Khadka scored 106 runs against Singapore which was broken by Malla after 3 months. Malla became the fastest Nepali batsman to score a half-century in the T20 International by scoring a half-century off 20 balls in the T20 World Cup qualifier (Asia final) against Malaysia last year.

He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes while scoring 51 runs in the game. He had broken the record of fast half century made by Binod Bhandari against Malaysia in 25 balls.

Malla holds the record for most runs scored in a single T20 International series or competition. He scored 148 runs in the South Asian Games last year. Paras Khadka scored 137 runs in 4 matches in the T20 International Series against the Netherlands in 2015, which was broken by Malla. Paras scored 136 runs in three games in the triangular series against Singapore last year, which is the third highest.

Malla hit five fours and nine sixes off 55 balls in his first century against Bhutan last year. Earlier, Paras Khadka had struck nine sixes while scoring a century against Singapore. For Nepal, Paras and Gyanendra are the players who hit 9 sixes in the same innings.
Gyanendra Malla shared 108 runs with Paras Khadka for the first wicket while scoring a century against Bhutan. The partnership is Nepal’s largest for the first wicket in a T20 International. Not only the first wicket, Gyanendra’s 80-run partnership with Paras Khadka against Hong Kong in the 2014 T20 World Cup for the third wicket is the highest for the third wicket.
Nepali batsmen have rarely played more than 50 balls in a single innings of T20 Internationals. Malla played a 55-ball century against Bhutan last year, the highest ever.
Nepal has won 9 and lost 3 matches under the captaincy of Gyanendra Malla who captained Nepal in 12 T20 Internationals. Earlier, captain Paras Khadka captained Nepal in 27 games while Nepal had won 11 games and lost 15 games. Paras’ victory percentage is 42.30 while Gyanendra’s is 71.42.
