ICC T-20 CWC : West Indies reached to Super 8
West Indies have reached the Super 8 of the ongoing T20 World Cup. West Indies defeated New Zealand by 13 runs in the Group C match that was completed on Thursday morning and reached the Super Eight of the World Cup.
Chasing the target of 150 runs given by West Indies, New Zealand scored only 136 runs after losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. For New Zealand, Glenn Phillips scored 40 runs while Finn Allen scored 26 runs and Mitchell Santner scored 21 unbeaten runs.
Alzarri Joseph took 4 wickets and Gudakesh Motie took 3 wickets. Before this, West Indies, who batted first, scored 149 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. Sherfane Rutherford scored the highest 68 runs for West Indies.
Similarly, New Zealand bowler Trent Boult took 3 wickets and Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson took 2 wickets each.
After this victory, West Indies secured their place in Super Eight from Group C with 6 points by winning three consecutive matches. Likewise, New Zealand has suffered its second consecutive defeat and the trip to the Super Eight is in jeopardy.
In this group, Afghanistan is in the second place by winning both the 2 matches and collecting 4 points.
Now, if Afghanistan wins the match against PNG on Friday, they will reach the Super Eight, while New Zealand will be out of the race for the Super Eight.
