The first day of talks between Iran and the US ends, and will continue tomorrow
The first phase of the ongoing ceasefire talks between Iran and the US lasted about two hours. According to media reports, during that phase, Iran demanded an immediate halt to its attacks on Lebanon. The meeting reportedly discussed a wide range of issues related to security, politics, the military, the economy, and law.
Vice President JD Vance leads the US side, while Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf represents the Iranian side. The talks are expected to continue tomorrow.Â
The talks are taking place at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, which is considered one of the safest areas of the city.
The hotel is known for its tight security, convenient location, and high-level guest management. Located near the Prime Minister’s residence and the Parliament building, the hotel has been strictly checked at all entry points and has multi-layered security arrangements, Pakistani media reported.
Spread over an area of about 6 hectares, the hotel has more than 400 rooms, a large conference hall, and office facilities. It is considered a suitable venue as it can comfortably accommodate large delegations at one time.Â
A 71-member delegation from Iran has reportedly arrived in Pakistan for talks with the US, and is being attended by US Vice President Vance, Special Presidential Representative Steve Whitaker, Senior Advisor Jared Kushner, and Army General Brad Cooper.
Similarly, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Army Chief Asim Munir, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and National Security Advisor Asim Malik are also said to have participated in the talks from Pakistan.
