Former Kathmandu Chief District Officer Chhabi Rijal was arrested

Chhabi Rijal, who was the Chief District Officer of Kathmandu during the Genji movement on Bhadra 23 and 24, has been arrested. Rijal was arrested by the Nepal Police’s Valley Crime Investigation Office on Tuesday morning in Subhidhanagar, Kathmandu.

He is accused of ordering the protesters to open fire.  Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission had recommended action against Rijal. As per the commission’s recommendation, the police had already arrested the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
