PM KP Sharma Oli took the oath
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has taken the oath of Prime Minister. President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Prime Minister Oli in a program held at the Presidential Office Sheetal Niwas on Monday.
Oli was appointed Prime Minister by President Paudel on Sunday according to Clause 2 of Article 76 of the Constitution. With this, Oli became the Prime Minister for the fourth time. He became the Prime Minister for the first time on Ashoj 25, 2072 and was appointed the Prime Minister for the second time on Falgun 3, 2074. Similarly, he was appointed as the Prime Minister for the third time on 30th Baisakh 2078.
Last Friday night, with the support of the Nepali Congress, Oli presented his candidacy for the Prime Ministership. Oli submitted the claim to the Prime Minister with the signatures of 166 MPs of Congress and UML.
The then government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda failed to get a vote of confidence in the parliament on Friday and the government collapsed. After that, President Paudel gave time until 5 o’clock on Sunday to submit claims to form a government with the support of two or more parties according to Article 76, Clause 2 of the Constitution.
