Lalita Niwas case : Court order to release all those arrested
The court ordered the release of 18 people arrested in connection with the Lalita Niwas land case. On Sunday, a single bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Bholanath Dhakal ordered 17 people to be released on bail and one on simple bail.
The court has demanded a bond of 2 crore 6 lakh from Min Bahadur Gurung, the owner of Bhatbhateni Superstore. On August 10th, a case was filed in District Court Kathmandu against 311 people, including four former ministers, six former secretaries, including the incumbent secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, joint secretary Sushil Vaidya, former deputy prime minister Vijay Kumar Gachchdar, for being involved in the embezzlement of government land of Lalita residence complex. 21 of them were deceased.
After an investigation by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police, the public prosecutor’s office submitted the charge sheet to the court.
