We have not made any transactions on visit visas – Barshaman Pun
Deputy General Secretary of the CPN-Maoist Center, Barshaman Pun, has clarified that he did not transact business in the visit visa case. Speaking at the Sunday meeting of the House of Representatives, Pun denied the allegations of a two-point agreement regarding Agni Sapkota’s visit visa issue, clarifying that he had no involvement in the matter.
Pun said that the matter of Agni Sapkota is in court and that they will form an opinion once the full text of the verdict is available, adding that the matter will take its course according to the law. Pun said that morality is a matter for the individual to demonstrate, adding that Home Minister Lekhak did not resign on moral grounds.
He said, “The issue of morality is naturally a personal matter, a private one. It is a matter for us, the parties, the opposition, or the general public, to draw the attention of the concerned individuals and make suggestions.” The government committed that the Home Minister would not resign, but that the rest of the government was ready for an investigation.
After the commitment to prepare the necessary structure within 30 days and move forward with the investigation, we and the Unified Socialist Party, and other parties were ready. Stating that the responsible opposition is committed to the fact that there should be an investigation into the visit visa issue, Pun said that it is important for the government to be prepared for the investigation.
