UML vice-chairperson Subas Chandra Nemwang passed away

Subas Chandra Nemwang, the vice-chairperson of CPN-UML and former president of the Constituent Assembly, has passed away. UML leader Khimlal Bhattarai has informed that 70-year-old Nemwang died of a heart attack during treatment at the University Teaching Hospital.

It is said that after he suffered a heart attack at his residence in Baluwatar, his family took him to the University Teaching Hospital, but the doctors declared him dead.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, UML President KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Devraj Ghimire and other UML leaders have now reached the teaching hospital.

Nemwang won from Ilam-2 in the House of Representatives elections held last November. He is also the deputy leader of the UML parliamentary party.

Nemwang became the Speaker of the House of Representatives which was re-established in 2063, the Speaker of the Legislative Parliament in 2064, the Speaker of the Constituent Assembly in 2065 and 2070 and the Speaker in 2072.
