House of Representatives dissolved, elections to be held on Falgun 21
The House of Representatives has been dissolved. President Ram Chandra Poudel has dissolved the House of Representatives on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.
Following the protests by Gen Z, President Poudel dissolved the House of Representatives on the recommendation of Karki, who was appointed as Prime Minister. Similarly, the date for holding elections to the House of Representatives has also been set for Falgun 21.
The President announced the election date on the recommendation of Prime Minister Karki. Earlier, following Gen Z’s demand and all-party consultations, President Poudel appointed Karki as Prime Minister in accordance with Article 61 of the Constitution.
A notice issued by the President’s Office states that President Poudel appointed the Prime Minister using the special powers granted by the Constitution in special circumstances.
