Nepal Army Exceeds Target, Collects 36,000 Kilograms of Waste in Safa Himal Campaign

The Nepal Army’s Safa Himal Campaign 2023 has successfully collected nearly 36,000 kilograms of solid waste from various mountains, surpassing its target of 35,000 kilograms.

The Directorate of Military Public Relations and Information reported that a total of 35,708 kilograms of garbage has been collected so far. This includes 3,567 kilograms from Mt. Annapurna, 18,520 kilograms from Mt. Baruntse, and 13,621 kilograms from Everest and Lhotse.

The team of Nepal Army stationed at the base camp of Mount Everest, responsible for cleaning Mount Everest and Lhotse, has completed their campaign and started returning.

The formal conclusion of the campaign will take place through an event in Kathmandu on World Environment Day, which falls on June 5.Unfortunately, two Sherpa guides who assisted the Nepal Army team during the cleanliness campaign lost their lives.

Additionally, four Nepali Army personnel fell ill and have been taken to India for further medical treatment.
