Nagdhunga-Naubise road washed away, traffic one-way
Traffic has been disrupted after the road caved in at the Patale forest area along the Nagdhunga-Naubise road section, which serves as an entry point to the capital. One-way traffic is currently operating on the section where the road subsided.
The Department of Roads stated that only tankers carrying petroleum products are currently permitted to use this route, while preparations are underway to divert other vehicles through the tunnel.
According to the Department of Roads, preliminary assessments suggest that the road subsidence may have been caused by the collapse of an old retaining wall. A technical team has arrived at the site to conduct an inspection, and the cause of the damage and a repair plan will be determined following this assessment.
The Department has urged travelers to use the tunnel route and exercise caution until road conditions return to normal. Disruptions on the Nagdhunga-Naubise road frequently affect thousands of passengers and vehicles traveling from the capital toward the western regions and the Terai.
