Gaurishankar Super League T20 cricket tournament to be held on Chaitra 29
The Dolakha District Cricket Association has announced to organize the ‘Gaurishankar Super League’ T-20 cricket tournament. The tournament will be held from Chaitra 29 to Baisakh 9 at the Lower Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu.
The tournament, to be held at a cost of around 900,000 rupees, will feature 18 prestigious cricket clubs and academies from across the country. The tournament will be played in the T20 format. Rabindra Gupta, the technical head of the tournament, said that this tournament will provide an important opportunity for young cricketers, especially, to showcase their talents.
The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 100,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a trophy. In addition, the best player will be awarded a cricket bat worth Rs 20,000.
A trophy will be given to the ‘Man of the Match’ of each match, while a cash prize of Rs 2,100 will be given to the player who scores a century or takes 6 wickets in a single match.
The competition includes KDCA 11, Great Himalaya Cricket Academy, CEC Bhaktapur, CEC Kathmandu, Baluwatar Cricket Club, Himalaya Sports Management, One Day Cricket Academy, Himalayan Cricket Academy, Gaurishankar Cricket Academy (Dolakha). Nexus Cricket Academy, Bhaktapur Cricket Center, Angels Sports Academy, Kings Cricket Academy, Radiant Cricket Academy, Jorpati Cricket Club, Kathmandu Cricket Academy, Fearless Falcon Club, and Kshamadevi Warriors will participate.
Notably, the winning team of the tournament will also get the opportunity to play One Day and Two Day tournaments with the host, Gauri Shankar Cricket Academy.
The association stated that this competition was organized in the context of the increasing popularity of football and volleyball in the Dolakha district, but with relatively low interest in cricket.
The main objective of the competition is to spark interest in cricket at the local level, provide opportunities to new players, and develop their talents.
The organizers have expressed their belief that this tournament will attract the youth of Dolakha towards cricket and help produce capable players in the future. The organizers have stated that all necessary preparations are underway to make the competition a success.
