Nepal Street Premier League (NSPL) trials concluded
The trials of Nepal Street Premier League (NSPL), the largest tennis ball T-10 cricket tournament to be organized for the first time in Nepal under the organization of DGR Sports and Event Management Pvt. Ltd., have been completed.
The process of selecting players through trials held at various locations nationwide has been completed. The final trial was held at the Mahalaxmi Sports Hub in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
There was a significant turnout of players in the trials. More than 1,500 players participated in the trials, out of which 250 players will be selected for the auction. The tournament will be an important platform for tennis ball cricket players to showcase their skills, the organizers have said. Seven teams will participate in the tournament.
A total of 25 matches will be played in the tournament. The league stage will be played in a single round-robin format, and the top 4 teams will advance to the semi-finals. The winning team will receive a prize of Rs 2.1 million while the runners-up will receive Rs 1.1 million.
Tournament chairman Gyanu Singh stated that this league aims to develop grassroots cricket by creating a strong and inclusive platform for emerging talent. ‘This tournament aims to further contribute to the development of cricket in Nepal, ‘ he said.
The competition has been postponed for some time. According to the initial plan, the competition was scheduled to be held from Ashoj 21 to Ashoj 31. However, the organizers have informed that the competition has been postponed in view of the Gen Z protests on Bhadra 23 and 24 and the current situation in which the country is immersed in mourning. The new date of the competition will be made public soon.
